What does a geriatrician do?
A Geriatrician is a specialist doctor that specifically deals with medical and psychological issues of the older person.
Several conditions are more commonly found in geriatric patients, For Example – Dementia, Delirium, Falls, Balance problems, Frailty, Osteoporosis, Congestive cardiac failure, Polypharmacy
Also, most of the geriatric patients have multiple complex medical problems that are inter-related to each other and can be very challenging to treat. If not treated properly, these can result in various medical complications and early nursing home placements. As the doctors of older people, we provide a holistic care to our patients and their families.
How can we help you to stay healthy?
Falls, frailty, polypharmacy, osteoporosis and cognitive problems can have a significant impact on a person/carer’s quality of life. We provide a comprehensive geriatric assessment to identify risk factors and help patients modify and treat those risk factors so they can enjoy their independence to full extent.
